Chantemerle is one the main access points to the stunning Serre Chevalier ski domain. The ski area covers over 250 kms and is considered one of the largest stand alone ski areas in France. The pistes rise to 2850m altitude and benefit from a very high tree line which is fantastic when there is low visibility on white out days.
The valley is made up of many villages and hamlets which all have a particular character and charm. The valley has not been purpose built and has a natural population. At the foot of the valley lies Briancon Town. This is the highest town in the country and has a population of 14,000. This means that the area never closes up in inter season and one can always use facilities all year round.
